Chanthaburi, known as “Mueang Chan”, is an abundant province with various factors contributing to the successful cultivation of fruit, especially durian, rambutan, mangosteen, and other economic crops; such as, pepper and rubber trees. The province also serves as a hub of gemstone trading, with diversified tourist attractions to offer ranging from mountains, forests, waterfalls, beaches, places and objects of antiquity to soft adventure and ecotourism activities such as trekking, mountain biking, rafting etc.

How to Get There

Car - Driving from Bangkok to Chanthaburi has 5 routes, it takes around 3 hours, which you may pass several districts such as Bang Na, Chon Buri province, Bang Saen, Si Racha, Pattaya, Ban Chang, Rayong province, depending on the Highway you choose.

Bus - Take the daily bus from the Bangkok Bus Terminal (Chatuchak) on Kamphaeng Phet 2 Road. The alternative way is to take regular bus leaving from Bangkok Eastern Bus Terminal (Ekkamai), buses depart Ekkamai every hour from 2.00 am to 9.30 pm every day. The journey takes 5 hours.

Air - There is no direct flight to Chanthaburi. However, you can take one-hour flight from Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport to Trat Airport, and then take one-hour car driving to Chanthaburi. The flight is not operated everyday, please check the flight schedule carefully before you choose to take airplane to Chanthaburi.


Getting Around in Chanthaburi

Song Theaw/Tuk-Tuk - The most common means of transportation in Chanthaburi. It is popular for short and quick journeys. Fares must be bargained in advance.

Car/Motorcycle - It is easier to reach the destination you plan to go. It is better to ask your hotel if they can arrange a car with driver for you or direct you to the local bus services, otherwise we advice you to click on Car Rental, there will be car rental service with driver.

 

Special Events

There is Fruit Festival in May to June. The fair highlights the province’s cornucopia of fruit, as well as featuring stalls selling local crafts, jewellery, Thai cuisine, and seafood products. There are also fruit contests and a beauty pageant.
